Asbestos Fiber Analysis Process for Materials

Sample collection is done as prescribed by CNESST. Sampling of materials that may contain asbestos (MSCA) is done by 'areas with similar work characteristics' (ZPSO). MSCA refers to a building component (e.g., ceiling). If the component is not uniform (e.g., plaster is different in several places), they will be part of different ZPSOs. To have a representative sampling and be certain beyond reasonable doubt that an MSCA does not contain asbestos, a total of 9 samples per ZPSO is necessary. For vermiculite, sampling will be done in 3 different places to obtain a representative sample.

Was your house built or renovated before 1990?

Asbestos in homes

The construction or renovation year of your house helps identify Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACMs) since asbestos was commonly used in construction before 1990. Understanding your building better helps assess the potential risk of asbestos exposure and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of your home and its occupants.

Are you renovating, selling your house, or changing insulation?

Vermiculite sampling

Conducting vermiculite analysis is crucial before renovating, selling your house, or changing insulation to ensure the safety of workers and occupants and comply with current regulations. This also helps identify any presence of asbestos and plan appropriate measures for its safe removal.
